Mr. Schulte returns to Brown & James after having served for four years as associate general counsel for Anheuser-Busch, where he managed a wide variety of litigation matters throughout the country. He brings over 15 years of litigation experience to Brown & James.
In private practice, Mr. Schulte has handled a wide variety of litigation matters, including personal injury, product liability, complex insurance coverage matters, arson and fraud litigation, medical malpractice, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and toxic tort matters. He has also litigated contract disputes and other commercial litigation matters for companies large and small. He has significant trial experience, as well as appellate experience in both the state and federal courts.
As associate general counsel, Mr. Schulte managed a broad spectrum of litigation matters throughout the country, including personal injury and property damage cases arising from product liability, premises liability, and auto and truck liability. He closely managed outside counsel, set claim reserves, attended mediations, arbitrations and trials on behalf of the company, and prepared budgets for outside legal services. In addition, he advised company management on high exposure cases, provided legal advice on risk management, contract, insurance and indemnity issues, and provided training to company safety and risk managers on claims handling issues. His in-house experience enabled him to gain invaluable insight on how our insurance carrier clients and other corporate clients analyze and evaluate claims.
